EYE SPY: OUR LOVE EDITION

There was love or love loss all over the Tao properties this weekend. On Friday, newly single Khloe Kardashian of the E! show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, was joined by her sister Kourtney and her brother Robert as she hosted the anti-Valentine’s Day party at Tao. The group ate dinner and then cut into a heart-shaped cake with a crack in it to symbolize poor Khloe’s broken heart. The group headed upstairs where they were greeted to…Khloe’s ex- NBA star Rashad McCants. If there were video cameras around we would have smelled a little Punked Joaquin Phoenix style but the Kardashian sister was definitely shocked by his presence. But they didn’t let it get the party down in fact Khloe grabbed her sister and took over the DJ booth pushing for the Danity Kane song “Damaged” to be played and then bellowed into the microphone, “SCREW VALENTINE’S DAY, HAVE A HAPPY SINGLES DAY!”. Also taking in the whole scene was Latin crooner Enrique Iglesias. 

If all that drama wasn’t enough, “I Kissed a Girl” singer Katy Perry showed up to LAVO with her very on Valentine on Saturday night. Who was the lucky fellow, why none other than Paris Hilton-ex and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden. The two sat close together and chatted, occasionally standing up and waving to the crowd. Katy grabbed the microphone and addressed the crowd, telling all “Screw boys, we got girls!” as her hit song began to play in the background. Despite her instructions to the club goers, Katy clearly only had eyes for Benji.

OSCAR NIGHT CANCELLED.. AT LEAST.. VEGAS ANYWAY

The Oscar Night America event, scheduled for Sunday, February 22, 2009 has been cancelled. “Due to the current economic situation we are all facing, we feel it is better to skip this year and revisit our fundraising initiatives in 2010,” said Jimmy Foster, President of Whispering Giants, the special events company organizing the event.

SEXIEST SERVER NAMED

Congrats go out to LAVO cocktail waitress Vanessa Remijio, who was awarded the Spy On Vegas.com Sexiest Server title on Monday. The Tao Group is officially on a winning streak, as this is the second year they have won the title. Remijio took home $10,000.

After nearly six years as one of Las Vegas’ top nightclubs, Body English is set to shutter its doors for good immediately following their final New Year’s Eve bash at the end of 2009. While we are sad to see this Vegas veteran finally laid to rest, our mourning turns to excitement as the Hard Rock is in the process of developing their next major nightclub. Internally referred to as “the new Body English,” the currently unnamed new 18,000 sq ft venue will open December 31st, 2009 inside the new Hard Rock tower that is currently under construction. No word on whether Timmy, Body English’s 3ft tall elevator operator, will make the transfer…

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST

It seems like Vegas shows are coming and going so quickly these days, “An Evening at La Cage” is dunzo. La Cage was a caberet show featuring female impersonators, the most famous was headliner Frank Marino as Joan Rivers. Marino told the RJ that he will return with his own drag show.

FAMED EATERY CAPO’S OPENS A SECOND SPOT ON SAHARA

If Sinatra, Martin, Davis, and Lawford came back today – Capo’s new location on Sahara is where they would be. While the original Capo’s is still going strong, Nico Santucci has outdone himself with a new “speakeasy” inspired by a time when red leather banquettes, velvet wall paper, crystal chandeliers, and crooners were found at only the best restaurants. MOVERS AND SHAKERS

Two Las Vegas staples are changing venues. Tony and Tina’s Wedding has moved from the Rio to the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The show is located on the Mezzanine level just outside of the Living Room in the former High Limit Gaming area. The show made it’s debut last night and was attended by LIFE actress Sarah Shahi and her fellow actor fiance Steve Howey, who are getting married in Vegas today.To purchase tickets click here
